Eric Gilson, Eric Röttinger and Aldine Amiel from IRCAN, as well as Mario Milanesio from the Center of Modeling, Simulation and Interactions (MSI) co-organised together with the Faculty of Tourism and the Faculty of Marine and Fisheries Sciences of Udayana University a Kick-Off Meeting as the first step of international research collaboration in the CORA(i)L (Coral Reef Artificial Intelligence for Living reefs) project.
This kick-off meeting was held on January 22, 2026 at Inna Sindhu Beach, Sanur, with the theme « Revisiting Coral Health Assessment & Tourism: From AI-Based Image Recognition to Next-Generation Reef Monitoring ».
Through the CORA(i)L project, Udayana University and Université Côte d’Azur emphasize a joint commitment that collaboration between scientists, AI technology, local communities, and the tourism sector is key in delivering a more effective, inclusive, and sustainable next-generation coral reef monitoring approach.
